As a native of Long Island, I came here as a student fully aware of the possibilities for fun and entertainment that the region has to offer. The Lab sponsors many activities including a summer volleyball league, as well as facilities for tennis, basketball and water sports on the harbor. Blackford Bar, right on campus, is a lively meeting place for resident and visiting scientists. Another wonderful resource in the area is New York City. About an hour on the Long Island Rail Road gives you full access to theaters, museums, restaurants, and all of the other wonders Manhattan has to offer. The lab is also very close to Huntington Village, which is a great place for shopping and restaurants, as well as bar hopping. Fantastic shopping malls and the famous Long Island beaches are all within your reach, making CSHL a lively place to study and live.
