Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL) welcomed Gabrielle Pouchelon to its neuroscience faculty on March 10, 2022. She will study the balance of genetic and environmental factors in neural circuit development. Initially, she will look at how gene regulation programs and neuron activation combine to influence cell identity and inhibitory circuits in the brain cortex.

As a postdoctoral researcher, Pouchelon studied neuroscience and development in Gordon Fishell’s laboratory at Harvard Medical School and the Broad Institute. She did her graduate work in neuroscience at the University of Geneva.

Pouchelon says “I am interested in how the environment shapes the developing brain, from gene expression to neuronal networks. Doing this work at CSHL is such a great opportunity, with both neural system and molecular approaches at the forefront of science already happening here.”
